Trip summary

Two separate trips to visit Scarba, Lunga, the Fiolas, Guirasdeal with plenty of time to visit
all the summits on each island.

Trip itinerary

Two trips – A and B are planned with the target islands listed below in bold.
If there is sufficient demand it is proposed to operate both Trip A and Trip B on both the
Saturday and the Sunday. That is up to 12 places on each trip on each day.
** Further planning is required noting tide times and level of interest as to whether
Guirasdeal is included with the Scarba trip or the Lunga trip. If you are only taking one trip
and wish to visit Guirasdeal please let the trip organiser know.
As is usual with SIB trips, they will be subject to weather conditions and the skipper’s
decisions on the day. There can be no guarantee of landing on all or any of the islands.

Trip A: Scarba, Guirasdeal**
For the Marilyn, and SIB Cruach Scarba, 450m and (optionally) the three Tumps;
1 Cruach Scarba South East Top, 422m, P30
2 Kilmory Lodge Hill, 150m, P30
3 Maol Bhuidhe, 109m, P34
Drop off at Scarba Harbour near “Poll na h-Ealaidh” NM 720 060.
Pick up at Bothy Bay “Bagh Gleann a’Mhaoil” NM 714 035

Trip B: Rubha Fiola, Fiola Meadhonach, Eilean Iosal, Fiola an Droma, Lunga, Guirasdeal**
It is planned to walk across all the islands from Rubha Fiola to Lunga making four tidal
crossings at low tide within 2-3 hours from being dropped off.

Drop off at northern end of Rubha Fiola, eg, NM 714 109 depending on wind and tide.
Pick up at south east end of Lunga eg NM 715 072
For those not wishing to visit Barr a’Bhealaich an alternative pickup in Camas a’ Mhor-Fhir
NM 703 085 can be made.

Places available

Each boat trip is for up to 12 people. There will potentially be one boat trip to Scarba, and one boat trip to Fiolas and Lunga each day.

Challenges and competences needed

To land on the islands you will need to be able to exit from and return to a moving tender
boat onto a rocky coastline or pebbly beach.

Cost

£65 – £75 per person, per trip, depending on numbers, assuming at least 12 on each trip.
These are two separate trips each day, which may be booked independently of each
other.

Reserve or enquire about trip

on availability, stating which trip(s) you wish to go on.
For example, “Both trips please” or “Trip A on Sunday, not interested in Guirasdeal”.
If there is availability, then;
2) Jonathan will email you with a booking reference, copied to the RHSoc Treasurer
Nicola Howarth.
3) Use this booking reference to pay RHSoc a deposit of £40 per person per trip.
4) “Reply All” to Jonathan’s email to let him and Nicola know you have paid the deposit.
