Two separate boat trips: Access to the Stack of Glencoul; Three/Four SIBs west of Lochinver, April 2026

 

Trip summary

A full day boat trip to the head of Loch Glencoul from Kylesku for the Stack of Glencoul,
and a half day boat trip to three SIBs west of Lochinver, from Kyleskue or Lochinver.


Dates

A boat has been reserved for Monday 27 April 2026.
Tuesday 28 April has also been reserved in case there is sufficient demand to enable people to do BOTH trips. In which case, Wednesday 29 April will be reserved as a backup day.

Trip itinerary

  1. A boat trip from Kylesku (departing 8.30am) to the head of Loch Glencoul to access the Hump Stack of Glencoul. 494M NC290286 or indeed any of the other hills in the vicinity.
  2. SIBs west of Lochinver – As is usual with a SIB trip, it will be subject to weather conditions and skipper’s decisions on the day. There can be no guarantee of that a boat will depart on any day, and nor that a landing will be made on the shore / islands.
    The trip to 3 Lochinver Tumps will include a stop at Oldany Island subject to time constraints for those departing Kylescu (departing 9.15am) and Lochinver (departing 10.30am). Please indicate your preferred departure points for this (the SIBs trip).

The boat will take a maximum of 12 people on each trip.

Challenges and competences needed

To land on the ashore on either trip you will need to be able to exit from and return to a
moving boat onto a rocky coastline or stoney beach.
Some easy scrambling may be required on the islands trip.

£56 per person, for Stack of Glencoul trip.
£86 per person for the Lochinver Islands trip
Both prices assume a full boat of 12 people.
