SIB / Tump Bagging Trip to Puffin Island / Priestholm / Ynys Seiriol near Anglesey – December 2024

 

Trip summary

A half day boat trip to SIB / Tump of Puffin Island / Priestholm / Ynys Seiriol from Beaumaris. The permission of the land owner has been obtained for this visit.


Dates

A boat has been reserved for Sunday 29 December, with two reserve dates of Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 December.
The trip will depart on the first available day with suitable weather. Given the time of year poor weather is likely, and the reserve days are to give a better chance of a successful landing. Interested people should indicate for which days they are available or unavailable.

Trip itinerary

A boat trip from Beaumaris to the SIB / Tump island of the East coast of Anglesey. As is usual with a SIB trip, it will be subject to weather conditions and skipperā€™s decisions on
the day. There can be no guarantee of that a boat will depart on any day, and nor that a landing will be made on the island.
Given the tide times, it is likely that the departure times will be early in the morning, from 8:30, but sliding later if the reserve days are used.

Challenges and competences needed

To land on the island you will need to be able to exit from and return to a moving boat onto a rocky coastline or stoney beach. Some easy scrambling may be required, and earlier reports on Hill-Bagging suggest severe vegetation.

Cost

Ā£40 – 50 per person, depending on numbers. (12 maximum).

Note this includes a donation of requested by the landowner for permission to land, and will be paid to the RNLI station at Beaumaris.
